Privacy policy.
Last updated 5 September 2026. This policy covers the Jinnie mobile application and this website.
1. The short version
The Jinnie app stores your financial records on your device and nowhere else. Jinnie does not operate an account system, does not receive your balances or transactions, and does not sell or share personal data because it does not have any to sell or share. This website is a static site with no login and no tracking scripts of ours.

3. Data the app stores on your device
Everything you enter or that the app derives from what you enter, including:
- the name you give on first run and your preferences;
- accounts, balances, currencies, and the institutions you pick for them;
- the Wallet ledger of income, expenses, and transfers, with categories and descriptions;
- bills, budgets, subscriptions, credit cards, and their payment history;
- community-app records such as goals, debts, savings-group rounds, remittances, and shared expenses;
- catalog entries you add, such as a custom category or biller.
This data is held in the application’s private storage on the device. It is protected by the device’s own security, and optionally by the app lock in Settings & Security. Uninstalling the app removes it. The local-data row in Settings removes it without uninstalling.
4. Data the app sends
The app makes two kinds of network request:
- Fetching mini-app code. Each mini app is downloaded from its release origin the first time it is opened and when a new version is published. The request carries the app name and the platform. It does not carry your records, your name, or a device identifier we assign.
- Reading connectivity. The app asks the operating system whether the device is online. Nothing is transmitted.
The app does not include analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services. If a future version adds any network feature, it will be disclosed in the app and in this policy before it is enabled.
The servers that host mini-app code may keep standard access logs, which can include the requesting IP address, the time, and the file requested. Such logs are retained only as long as the hosting provider keeps them and are not combined with any other information.
5. Permissions

6. Backups
A backup is a file you create and you control. Once it leaves the app through the share sheet, it is subject to the privacy practices of wherever you send it. Backup files are not encrypted by the app.
7. Community apps
Community apps run inside Jinnie without access to your financial records. Each receives storage namespaced to its own id. Community apps that ship with Jinnie follow the same rule as core apps: no network call without graceful degradation and disclosure. See community apps.
8. This website
The website is served as static pages. It sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. The hosting provider may keep standard access logs, including IP address, user agent, and pages requested, for security and operations. If you email us, we keep the correspondence for as long as needed to answer you.
9. Children
Jinnie is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. Because the app collects nothing centrally, the practical effect is that a child’s records, like anyone’s, stay on the device they were entered on.
10. Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about app users, requests to access, correct, export, or delete your records are fulfilled by you, in the app: Settings & Security exports everything as JSON and the local-data row removes it. Where the Data Privacy Act of 2012 of the Republic of the Philippines or another law grants you rights regarding data we do hold, such as an email you sent us, contact us and we will act on them.
11. Changes
We will post any change to this policy on this page and update the date at the top. A change that affects what the app sends will also be disclosed in the app before it takes effect.
